eMErgence (released Mon 9th March) is Neil Campbell’s 16th album. It features nine new compositions which meld elements of progressive rock, jazz fusion and minimalism. Classic minimalism meets electronica and experimental rock in this collaboration between three Liverpool (UK) based musicians, Neil Campbell, Carlo Bowry and Gordon Ross, who will be performing concerts later in November (details at the Live section of this site). Bulbs launches its eagerly awaited debut album at The Capstone Theatre (17 Shaw Street, Liverpool L6 1HP) with an hour long performance (+ support) which will feature the projection of an entrancing new film specially created by artist Sonny Phillips to accompany the album. Neil is delighted to be appearing as part of a star studded line up for Liverpool Irish Festival's Irish Sea Sessions 2013, taking place on Friday 18th October at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. The sessions will bring together 14 hand-picked multi-instrumentalists and singers from traditional and contemporary music backgrounds, and from both sides of the Irish Sea, to explore the special musical bond between Liverpool and Ireland. In July, Neil Campbell performed a solo guitar concert at the View Two Gallery which was in two halves. In the first half he performed classic music for classical guitar including pieces by Albeniz, Tarrega, transcriptions of Bach, Beethoven and Satie (amongst others) and classics such as Spanish Romance, Cavatina and Santa Lucia. In the second half, he played original compositions ranging from the introspective to the energetic.
